Boll Passing On Metal Gear Solid?

My Uwe Boll story ran. It’s quite chunky and there’s a little bit of something in there for everyone.

Most interesting to Kotaku readers will likely be Boll’s comments on Metal Gear Solid.

Although Boll says he plans to make more than just video-game movies, he still has several in the works and a few more he’s eyeing.

He’s in post-production for In the Name of the King, based on the role-playing PC game Dungeon Siege, and is writing the script for Postal. After those he plans to start work on Far Cry.

Others in the industry have approached him about several other video-game movies as well, most famously one based on the popular Metal Gear Solid franchise. But Boll doesn’t know when he’ll have the time to get to them.

“Look, I’m super busy,” he said. “I can do three movies in two years . . . so the earliest time I could do Hitman or Metal Gear Solid would be the fall of 2007.”

ry on that is that Boll was approached by the people who wrote the script for the movie and asked if he would like to direct it. Those people, very importantly, don’t yet have the rights from Konami. They are in the process of trying to obtain them.

That is key because without Konami’s permission, no movie can go forward.

Even if they do get the rights, which sound like a distinct possibility, it sounds like Boll might not have the time to do the movie.

That’s right, Boll might take a pass on MGS because he’s too busy.

Ironic isn’t it?

The article also includes an interview with Gas Powered Games about what they think so far of the Dungeon Siege movie and why they think this time around Boll’s creation will be good. There’s also some great stuff from Vince Desi in there about Postal.

Definitely worth a read, in my humble opinion.
